PORT CLINTON — Interim safety service director Jim told the Port Clinton City Council on June 23 that he intends to vacate the post next Thursday after stepping in following the death of the prior director. Council members joined the mayor in thanking Jim for his service during the transition.
Mayor said supervisors have met candidates and that the administration is conducting final reference and background checks. “I hope to have an offer out to someone by the end of this week,” the mayor said. Jim thanked council for the opportunity to serve and said he would continue duties through his final week.
Council members expressed appreciation: Mrs. King said she learned a great deal and valued Jim’s openness and professionalism, and others praised his public service. The mayor said he expects to announce a new permanent safety service director soon and noted the city had organized a meeting of supervisors with candidates to inform selection.
