Perkiomen board approves winter snow contracts, advances hazard‑mitigation bidding and road survey work

At its Sept. 3 meeting, the Perkiomen Township Board of Supervisors approved several operational and infrastructure steps to prepare for winter operations and advance hazard‑mitigation and road projects.
The board voted 4-0 to award snow-and-ice removal for the 2024–2025 winter season: Zone 1 was awarded to Lenhard Contractors and Zone 2 to Buck Enterprises and Landscaping, after Road Master Shawn Motsavage presented bid results and his recommendation.
On hazard mitigation, Township Engineer Nicholas Szeredai updated the board on the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program project for 574 Gravel Pike. The project manager recommended bidding Scenario 1 — demolition of the house and completion of soil borings — so the township can work with PEMA and FEMA on final scope and costs. The board authorized bidding Scenario 1 (motion by Pamela Margolis; second by Dean Becker), allowing the township to obtain concrete cost estimates before committing to later phases.
Szeredai also outlined three tasks for the properties at 1, 2 and 3 Haldeman Road: a boundary survey, easement coordination with Montgomery County, and an optional lot consolidation. Solicitor Kenneth Picardi said the first step should be a deed-of-consolidation inquiry with the county. The board authorized Solicitor Picardi to contact Montgomery County to explore driveway access and possible consolidation to avoid potential landlocking of the properties.
For the 2025 Road Project, the board approved a Confirmation of Services to perform survey work and develop scope for Burgess Road at an estimated cost of $55,200; the motion passed 4-0.
These votes advance procurement, engineering and permitting tasks required to move the township’s planned capital and mitigation projects into the design and bidding phases.
