Osceola council approves electric-line easement to Alliant Energy after brief hearing

Osceola — The Osceola City Council on Dec. 2 approved Resolution 2025-47 authorizing the conveyance of an electric-line easement to Alliant Energy (Interstate Power and Light Company) across City-owned property identified as Parcel No. 00507 (Lots 19–22 in Club North Estates).
According to the resolution text presented to the council, the easement is intended to allow Alliant Energy to construct, operate, maintain, expand and repair underground electric and telecommunications lines and associated equipment to improve system reliability and service in the area. The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute the easement and the city clerk to attest.
The matter was the subject of a public hearing. Resident Floyd Taber asked questions about the location of the utility work; there were no other public comments. The council closed the hearing and then approved the resolution on a motion by George Fotiadis, second by Sonya Hicks, with a unanimous roll-call vote (Fotiadis, Sullivan, Bahls, Hicks: aye).
The resolution and legal description of the easement were included in the packet materials as Exhibit A for council review. The easement approval allows Alliant Energy to proceed with the underground work subject to the terms of the easement and any required permits or coordination with city staff.
