Perkiomen supervisors approve demolition, salt shed and stormwater payments; PennDOT bridge guide‑rail work estimated

The Perkiomen Township Board approved several engineer‑recommended payments and agreements at its Jan. 6 meeting.
Engineer Nicholas Szeredai recommended and the Board approved Application for Payment No. 1 for the 574 Gravel Pike Hazard Mitigation/Demolition Project in the amount of $63,900 to DavidHeiser Construction Services. The motion was approved unanimously.
For the Salt Shed Addition Project the Board approved Payment Application No. 2 (partial) to A. K. Petersheim Builders for $104,496.30 and Payment Application No. 2 (final) to Kite and Key Electric for $1,278.20; both were recommended by the engineer and approved 4‑0.
Szeredai reported that PennDOT’s recent bridge inspections for the township’s four bridges (Trappe Road, Seitz Road, Godshall Road and Cranberry Boulevard) identify guide‑rail improvements as the main recommendation and that the estimated cost to complete guide‑rail improvements is approximately $200,000. He recommended bidding the guide‑rail work and noted the Board could stage repairs across 2025–2026 because much of the work was preventive in nature.
The Daily Bread Community Food Pantry submitted a stormwater management permit for proposed work; Szeredai requested the Board approve the Township’s standard Stormwater Operations & Maintenance and Project Improvements Agreement conditioned on review and approval by the Township Manager, Township Solicitor and the Food Pantry. The Board approved that conditional agreement by a 4‑0 vote.
Szeredai also described PennDOT’s plan to install a sidewalk on the north side of Bridge Road (Route 113) between Route 29 and the Montgomery County Perkiomen Trail Head as part of SR 29/SR 113 intersection improvements.
