Council honors Opera Delaware director Brendan Cook as he departs

Council Member Chenet Darby read the resolution highlighting Cook's career accomplishments, including founding the Baltimore Concert Opera, launching Opera Delaware's company artist model and bringing the Opera America National Conference to the region. The resolution commended Cook for expanding access to opera through initiatives such as popup performances in neighborhoods, schools and community sites during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cook accepted the resolution and framed the honor as recognition of the collective work of artists, staff, board members, donors and volunteers. He noted that the board had named Eric Einhorn as his successor and said he plans to continue work that centers Delaware and community engagement.
Council offered applause and several members offered personal remarks of thanks and best wishes. The recognition was adopted by acclimation.
