River Ridge CDD terminates Laz’s Lawn and engages GulfScapes at higher contract amount

The River Ridge Community Development District on Nov. 19 authorized terminating its landscape service agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service, Inc. and engaging GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services, effective immediately.
Mrs. Adams said Laz’s Lawn had performed poorly and recommended replacing the contractor. GulfScapes submitted a proposal of $58,500, about $13,000 more than the district budgeted ($45,000). The board discussed financing the increase by using unassigned funds and applying payments withheld from Laz’s Lawn for plant replacement to offset costs.
On motion by Mr. Blumenthal, seconded by Mr. Schultz, and with all in favor, the board authorized management to terminate the Laz’s Lawn agreement and engage GulfScapes effective immediately.
Staff will manage the transition and report back on how withheld payments and unassigned funds will be applied to cover the higher contract price.
