River Ridge CDD approves $105,000 for radar speed signs and traffic-calming devices

The River Ridge Community Development District unanimously approved purchase and installation of new digital radar speed signs and related cloud services on Nov. 19 as part of its traffic-calming plan.
District Operations Manager Shane Willis presented AV-Tech LLC estimates to install three permanent 15" solar-powered radar signs with cameras and messaging and one mobile 15" unit. The board approved AV-Tech estimates 24150 and 24151, authorizing wiring and installation and recurring cloud-device services at $1,500 per device per year. The board recorded a combined total approval of $105,000.
Eric Long, PSGRC general manager, said moving an existing unit — which logged about 800 varied speeding violations over three weeks — may be warranted; that move would require purchasing a pole (estimated at about $1,200). Board members discussed installation locations, the district’s $150,000 traffic-calming line item and PSGRC’s criteria for issuing warnings and fines. The board approved the AV-Tech work unanimously.
The new signs are intended to provide detection and messaging to slow traffic on community streets; detailed placement and any enforcement steps will be coordinated with PSGRC and district staff.
