Police Chief Keith Tarase said traffic patterns change during summer, and he recommended performing a traffic study at Ridge & Akins once school resumes to get an accurate assessment of weekday conditions. Committee members noted other intersections of concern (Bennett & Akins, York & Parkway) and discussed practical limitations—Mayor Antoskiewicz emphasized that the hill at Bennett & Akins makes a traffic signal undesirable because it could increase crash risk in winter.
Chair Wos moved and Vice Chair Webber seconded to remove State & Akins and Ridge & Akins intersections from the Safety Committee agenda; the motion passed with two yeas and one excused.
