Fruitport Community Schools' Director of Business Services Mark Mesbergen told the Business and Finance Committee on May 11 that the district's taxable property value rose 8.8%, producing a Headlee rollback this year but leaving the district able to collect the full 18 mills. "The district's property value increased by 8.8%. There is a headlee rollback this year due to the large valuation increase but the district will still be able to receive the full 18 mills," Mesbergen said.
Mesbergen explained the L-4029 is the annual document the board of education approves and submits to townships so they know how many mills are to be levied. He described the form as the mechanism by which the district notifies local taxing authorities of the authorized millage for the coming year.
The committee did not record any public comment on the item. The meeting adjourned at 5:31 p.m.
