Superintendent says district is preparing for school year amid staffing and budget constraints; convocation paused

The superintendent announced the district will pause its traditional convocation for the upcoming back-to-school season, explaining the decision is "a deliberate strategic decision" to conserve staff capacity and reconsider the event's format and cost; the district is exploring an alternative school-based structure to welcome staff back.
Looking ahead, the superintendent said the district will prepare for the long legislative session with advocacy focused on both short-term solutions to fiscal and operational pressures and longer-term systemic changes to education funding.
Board members thanked staff and noted community partnerships that supported students over the summer. The superintendent concluded by expressing optimism for the coming school year and a commitment to partner with the board in the months ahead.
