Edgerton Road sewer project goes to bid; city eyes August start

The Utilities Committee heard that the Edgerton Road sanitary sewer project is being advertised for bids this week and could begin construction in early August if bids come in at acceptable levels.
City Engineer Matthew Glass told the committee the city expects to return to council at the first July meeting to award the contract and that, barring delays, “the project would start at the beginning of August” and take “a couple of months,” with work likely wrapping toward late September or early October. Council member Michael Wos asked about an earlier planned bid date; Glass said the design firm held the plan briefly to run it again by utility companies to avoid conflicts.
Resident Dan Sefcik of 3746 Edgerton Road spoke during public comment seeking clearer information, saying neighbors are hearing rumors about a sewer proposal and asking the city to provide details. “The whole road of Edgerton Road is excited to get some information on the sanitary sewer that is proposed for Edgerton Road,” Sefcik said.
The committee did not take a vote on the project at the meeting. Officials said the next formal step would be legislation at the July council meeting to award the contract if a lowest-and-best bid is received.
