The Byron City Council met June 9, 2025, and unanimously approved a slate of ordinances, intergovernmental agreements and service contracts, including Ordinance #2025-10 amending Chapter 6 (Animals) of the city code and a covenant to annex property at 430 Jones Road (tax map 053 024D) to permit connection to city water.
Council authorized the issuance of new credit cards through Colony Bank and approved supplemental appropriations tied to the 2024 audit. The council also authorized the mayor to execute an intergovernmental agreement with the Fort Valley Utility Commission for water services and approved a lease with Heart of Georgia Community Action, Inc. for the city's senior center. Council approved participating in an intergovernmental agreement on the 2026 Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST) proceeds for limited property-tax relief.
The governing body awarded a bid for the Cane River traffic-signal project to McLeroy Equipment, LLC; authorized an agreement with Bennett Financial Services, LLC for certified public accountant services; and approved janitorial services with Jani-King of Macon. The council approved the WRATS FY2026 pro rata share for the City of Byron in the amount of $2,040.10. All motions were moved and seconded as recorded in the official minutes and carried unanimously. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
