Byron council OKs surplus equipment, two three-way stops and updates public works job description

The Byron City council on Oct. 13 approved several Public Works measures: the surplus of aging equipment, installation of two three-way traffic-control intersections, and an update to the Public Works Equipment Operator I and II job descriptions.
A motion by Council Member Michael Chumbley, seconded by Council Member Alan C. Dorsey, approved the surplus of a 2007 Ford Ranger, a 2002 sewer machine, a 1994 tractor and a bat-wing mower attachment. The motion passed unanimously.
Council Member Chris Hodges moved, and Michael Chumbley seconded, to install a three-way stop at Howard Street and Marion Drive and another at Academy Street and Murdock Lane; the council voted unanimously to approve both installations. Mayor Michael Chidester had earlier asked to add the Academy/Murdock location to the agenda.
The council also approved a resolution updating the Public Works Equipment Operator I and II job descriptions to remove the CDL license requirement and substitute training-hour requirements. The resolution, presented as Exhibit A in the minutes, was adopted by unanimous vote.
