Byron resident urges city help after repeated home flooding

Lisa Hardy, who identified herself as a resident of 813 Main Street, told the City of Byron council on Oct. 13 that her house has flooded three times during heavy rains since she moved in on April 19, 2020.
"I have already had three major floods of my home during heavy rain events since moving there six years ago on April 19, 2020," Hardy said during the public-comment portion of the meeting. She said she has replaced her retaining wall twice and asked the city for help to relieve water flowing toward her house.
City Administrator Tiffany Sandefur said the DRI study for the second phase of the New Haven development is nearly complete and might provide data or recommendations relevant to Hardy’s drainage problems. Mayor Michael Chidester said the council would inspect the property in the next few days.
No formal motion or commitment of funds was recorded during the meeting; staff indicated follow-up and an on-site visit would occur.
