Minutes record that the Zoning Board of Appeals had granted a sign variance for Big Guys Campground, LLC (sign height from 6 feet to 10 feet and pole-type sign) and that a re-hearing to rescind the decision was scheduled for Aug. 26, 2024 because a pole sign is not allowed in the town. Supervisor Gerald Rightmyer said the campground was "understandably upset" about the sign issue and emphasized the need to "get it right."
During public comment resident David Paul suggested the Planning Board consult the Village of Holley’s simpler comprehensive plan as a model. Sandy Shaw, director of the Community Free Library, announced she will retire effective Sept. 15 and said she hopes to bring incoming director Amanda Anderson to the next meeting for an introduction; the board thanked her for her service. Supervisor Rightmyer also announced a new Town of Murray Facebook page (information-only) and noted the Historical Society has installed a handicap ramp.
No formal land-use decisions were made at the meeting; the minutes reflect continued review and upcoming hearings.
