Board appoints Matt Smith and Glenn Langstaff to budget committee after debate on term staggering

Commissioner Starrett recommended Matt Smith for position 1 (term expiring June 2027) and Glenn Langstaff for position 2 (term expiring June 2028), citing demonstrated community involvement and financial experience. Another commissioner agreed with the recommendations and noted several applicants were well qualified. The motion to appoint Smith and Langstaff carried with Commissioner Starett and Commissioner Johnston voting in favor and Commissioner King voting nay.
The board directed staff to notify applicants who were not selected and to provide guidance about other openings on county committees. The appointments were effective immediately and will be recorded by the clerk's office.
