Lake County Library Advisory Board approves amended 2026 meeting calendar; hears report on 2025 statistics and digital services

Carl Porter called the Lake County Library Advisory Board to order at 4:10 p.m. Jan. 8 and the board approved minutes from Sept. 11, 2025 after a motion by Paula Warner and a second from Janet Melton.
County Librarian Christopher Veach reported to the board on library statistics for 2025 and upcoming operational changes. Veach also answered questions from the board about the library’s digital-content services, specifically Overdrive/Libby, Hoopla and Kanopy.

Janet Melton outlined outreach ideas for local schools, including school visits and the possibility of a library presentation at an assembly to reach students and promote library services.
Veach presented a draft meeting calendar for 2026/27. Following discussion, the board amended the locations for the March 12 and May 14, 2026 meetings to the Lakeport Library and moved the July 9, 2026 meeting to the Upper Lake Library; the calendar was approved by unanimous consent.
A planned tour of the Lakeport Library was postponed to a future date. The board set its next regular meeting for March 12 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lakeport Library. The meeting adjourned at 5:05 p.m.
The meeting record notes two vacant advisory-board seats (Districts II and III). No public comment was received at the meeting.
