Urbana council takes up first reading of 2025 appropriation resolution

At the Nov. 5, 2024 regular session, the Urbana City Council held the first reading of Resolution 2433-24, the annual appropriation resolution that sets the expense side of the city's 2025 budget.
Director of Finance Chris Boettcher told council the appropriation covers operating, capital improvement and debt-service accounts and follows the tax budget that established the revenue estimates earlier in the year. Boettcher said approximately $15,000 remained unappropriated from the tax budget when the appropriation was presented.
Council Member Thackery moved to put the resolution on the floor for discussion and Ms. Jumper seconded. No council questions were recorded on the appropriation and President Pro Tempore Bean declared the resolution to have had its first reading. The resolution requires additional readings before final adoption.
Other routine business at the meeting included a reminder about ongoing leaf pickup, a City invitation to tour the fire station, and a note that the City signed a land use agreement with Point North in August. Council adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
