Councilmembers at the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council on June 25 pressed staff for more detail about landscaping expenditures under the Mariposa Landscaping contract and for clearer oversight of work charged to CSA 4.
Councilmember Brian Trushinski questioned an approximately $800 expense identified in the CSA 4 financial report as "May Bus Stop," asking why the cost was charged to the CSA 4 landscaping budget rather than to the Kanan shuttle program and requesting supporting documentation. Trushinski and J.L. Diaz asked staff to obtain a written explanation and clarify contract responsibilities for tree‑related work and associated charges.
Chair Michelle Santucci provided updates on planned replacement of seasonal plantings at three community locations, confirmed the contractor operates on a 45‑day service rotation and noted Mariposa Landscaping will reach its one‑year anniversary under the current contract on July 1. Santucci also reported Public Works repaired a broken sprinkler head affecting the median between Tamarind Street and Smoketree Avenue and reopened a service request to verify irrigation throughout the area.
A resident identified as Tom asked the Council to evaluate damage to perennials near the Oak Park community sign. Several councilmembers requested an audit or additional review of landscaping costs and contract oversight; J.L. Diaz said he would work with Public Works to obtain clarification of the identified expenses.
No formal action to change the contract was taken during the meeting; the Council asked staff to return with documentation and clarification.
