Karen Wright, the newly appointed Services for Older Adults coordinator, presented a preliminary 2025 calendar and outreach plan to University Heights City Council on Feb. 3.
Wright said she formed a small advisory committee of senior residents to help shape programming and is coordinating with the University Heights Library on a Topic Tuesdays speaker series (3 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month beginning Feb. 11). She described planned activities including regular Friday walks at The Walt starting in April, trips to regional Metroparks reservations, and an initial matinee outing to Playhouse Square on Feb. 22.
On outreach, Wright said staff plan to send postcards to households with residents over 60 (or to all homes) to reach caregivers and family members and noted a small local nonprofit, Rent a Daughter, as one example of an available resource for home-help tasks.
Council thanked Wright for the presentation and asked staff to use multiple communications channels including the Mosaic newsletter and the city's website to promote programming.
