North High Shoals council accepts minutes and financial reports; discusses sidewalks and Old Town Hall restrictions

At its Sept. 23 meeting the council accepted draft minutes and financial statements for July and August, noted a completed park drainage project, approved advertising for sidewalk bids, and reviewed deed restrictions on Old Town Hall motioning that it cannot be sold under current documents.
The North High Shoals Town Council approved several routine administrative items on Sept. 23, 2024, and discussed town maintenance and property restrictions.
Council member Eric Wright moved to accept the draft minutes from July 22, 2024, with a notation of “inaudible” in blank spaces; Council member Eric Carlson seconded and the motion passed 3–0. Council member Wright also moved to accept the July 2024 financial statement as presented; Council member Carlson seconded and the council approved unanimously. The August 2024 financial statement was later accepted on a separate unanimous vote.
Under unfinished business, Mayor Stephen Goad said a newspaper advertisement for sidewalk bids would be placed Wednesday. He also reported that the park drainage project has been completed. Regarding the Old Town Hall, the minutes state the property documents require the property be used by the Town or returned to original owners and that there appears to be nothing allowing the Town to sell it.
In new business the council noted a building-permit item for Mr. Rieske (handled after the millage vote) and that an Andy Flippin proposal for the park was cancelled because Mr. Flippin was ill. Mayor Goad briefly updated the council on the Town Hall camera system before the meeting was adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
