The North High Shoals Town Council voted Oct. 28 to re‑advertise Phase 1 of a planned sidewalk project after no bids were received in the initial solicitation. Council member Hilda Kurtz made the motion to re‑advertise and Council member Meagan Cundiff seconded; the motion passed unanimously, 5–0.
The council set a timeline for the new solicitation: ads will run Jan. 23, Jan. 30 and Feb. 6, 2025; sealed bids must be received in the clerk’s office by 5:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025; bids will be opened publicly by the mayor on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025 at 4:30 PM in Town Hall. The council will consider and vote on the bids at its regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 at 7:00 PM.
Council recorded that no sealed bids were received during the previously advertised period, prompting the decision to restart the procurement process. The re‑advertisement motion specifies the advertisement schedule, submission deadline, public opening by the mayor and the date the council will vote on award or awards.
The action does not commit the town to a contract at this meeting; the council’s final decision will occur after bids are opened and a council vote in February. The clerk will receive bids and the mayor will conduct the public bid opening as scheduled.
