Housing survey nears close and department reports on local business supports

UW‑Extension and county economic development staff told the committee the housing survey closes Dec. 8 with about 700 responses; staff also reported coordination with WWBIC, Hillsboro’s participation in WI REV and plans for regional housing summits, plus community events such as a ribbon cutting for Birchpoint Distillery.
Hannah Altimus, UW‑Extension Community Development Educator, reported that the county housing survey closes Dec. 8 and that roughly 700 responses had been received to date. She said the Housing Task Force planned to meet that evening at 5:00 p.m.
Altimus described ongoing coordination with WWBIC to fold that organization’s programming into the county Business Workshop Series and cited Hillsboro’s participation in the WI REV program. She said she is planning a series of four regional housing summits.
Larkin Breckel summarized other department activity including the Vernon County awards banquet and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Birchpoint Distillery; Breckel also noted upcoming work on the Vernon County Guide. At one point Breckel relayed staff greetings: “happy holidays from Amy.”
