Denton trustees approve nonprofit grants, vendor claims and a $40,000 transfer from Keno funds

At its Jan. 5 meeting, the Village of Denton Board of Trustees approved grant awards to local nonprofits, authorized a $40,000 transfer from Keno Checking to the General Fund and approved vendor claims and payroll.
Trustee Doug Rosekrans moved, and Trustee Amanda Fangmeier seconded, to award the following donations from available village funds: Denton Dollars for Scholars, $2,500; DCAC, $2,500; Sunnyside Cemetery, $1,830; Denton Community Historical Society, $4,000; Spring Creek Prairie, $1,200. The five approved awards total $12,030 of the $25,530 requested by applicants.
On finance matters the board approved a transfer of $40,000 from Keno Checking to the General Fund and approved Claims List A ($45,427.00), Claims List B ($9,755.91) and December payroll ($11,025.23). Claims list details include a $31,313.00 payment to APMS Inc. for crack sealing/striping and other vendor payments listed in the published claims. The Clerk reported Keno Checking held $249,471.19 on hand per the treasurer’s report.
Trustees also approved Clerk Charlotte Te Brink’s attendance at the University of Nebraska‑Omaha Clerks School and Trustee Fangmeier’s attendance at the League of Nebraska Municipalities Midwinter Conference. The board reinstated Terry Orme as a part‑time maintenance relief employee, effective immediately, following a staff report that the state had authorized Orme to enter the village’s water facilities under specified conditions.
