Harry Fisher told the BET Budget Committee on April 14 that the Central Middle School Building Committee met that morning and approved an interim request for $6 million to replenish the owner’s contingency, which has been drawn down to approximately $783,000. He said the project completion date moved up by four days, with substantial completion now projected for Aug. 4, 2026.
Fisher said the $6 million interim includes life-safety items within the Fire Marshal’s authority as well as unresolved vendor claims subject to negotiation. He indicated his intent to recommend that, when the item is presented to the full BET in May, a condition be attached to the appropriation requiring the Building Committee to return in June or July before those contingency funds are released in whole or in part. The committee heard this as a preview; no committee vote or appropriation was taken on April 14.
