Corwin aligns trash billing with Rumpke; residents to pay $42.06 every two months

The Corwin Village Council on Aug. 12 reviewed changes to its solid-waste billing arrangement intended to avoid short-term gaps when contractor rates rise.
Clerk-Treasurer Debra R. Femmer explained residents are billed bi-monthly by Warren County Water while Rumpke of Ohio invoices the village monthly; previously, that mismatch required the village to absorb one month of any contractor increase when a new contract year began. Femmer said she worked with Dean Ferrier of Rumpke to put both services on the same billing cycle beginning Nov. 1, 2025, but that Rumpke will start a transitional cycle Oct. 1, 2024 that runs 13 months (rather than 12) so the village can cover the increase without an immediate resident increase.
Femmer said the new resident rate effective Oct. 1, 2024 will be $42.06 every two months. She said a revised contract will be submitted to council for approval at the next meeting. Council members noted Corwin's rate remains lower than nearby Harvesburg.
