Corwin council holds executive session on condemned properties, declines $200 cleanup invoice

The Corwin Village Council convened an executive session July 8 to discuss previously identified matters including use of eminent domain for condemned properties and a missing sidewalk on Rising Sun Court, Solicitor Jeffery Richards told council. Councilman Cummins moved to enter executive session, Councilman Lacy seconded, and council went into executive session.
After returning to open session, Clerk-Treasurer Debra Femmer reported finding a letter and $200 invoice from Beverly Campbell for cleanup of grass around Old Town Hall and the picnic area. Council discussed that Purkey Landscaping is under contract to perform those duties and moved not to pay the unauthorized invoice. Councilman Lacy moved and Councilman Cummins seconded the motion to decline payment; the roll call vote carried 3 Aye / 1 Nay (Councilman Baldwin opposed). Council also directed that a written thank-you be sent to Mrs. Campbell and that the appreciation be posted on the Village website.
The council also handled routine business after the session, voting to pay the village bills (4-0) and adjourning the meeting.
