Lancaster County commissioners approve claims, contracts, election arrangements and routine business

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on April 7 carried a slate of routine items including claims, contract supplements, memoranda of understanding and election-related agreements.
The board approved minutes for the March 31 meeting (Chair Christy Yokum abstained on the minutes vote because she was not present), and approved claims through April 3, 2026, including a payroll amendment. The board also approved specific vendor claims noted on the agenda.
Consent-agenda approvals included contract amendments and routine procurement items: contract amendments with Subsurface Inc. (countywide CIP culvert lines), Titan Machinery (rental of four-wheel drive tractors), Substrata (soil stabilization enzyme), All Needs Computer (mailing services), Fifth Asset (debt/lease management software), Verizon Wireless (wireless services), and Savvy Solutions (platform services). The board set a public hearing for April 21, 2026, for a Class IB liquor license application for Hidden Valley Golf Course (Hidden Valley Holding LLC d/b/a Hidden Valley Golf Course), with corporate manager licensing noted on the agenda.
Infrastructure and procurement approvals included an engineering services supplement to the Alfred Benish & Company contract for the South 68th Street project, a professional services supplement with Alfred Benish not to exceed $12,465.19, memoranda of understanding for heavy-equipment repair with Rose Equipment Inc., Nebraska Machinery Company (NMC), and Yuri Refuge Services Inc., and a purchase order award to Ace Eaton Metals for culvert pipe totaling $89,566.86. The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with Woodhouse Ford Inc. for automotive parts and services (not to exceed $250,000).
Personnel and program items included setting the annual salary for the county risk management director at $117,000 effective April 13, 2026, approving an agreement with Lutheran Family Services in Nebraska to provide a peer support specialist at no cost to the county for community corrections clients, and an agreement with Community Supports Network Inc. to provide microfilm scanning services (up to $39,000) for records management.
Election administration approvals included a rental agreement with Unique Event Rentals for temporary polling furniture (not to exceed $195.97) and an agreement with the Lancaster County Agriculture Society Inc. (doing business as Sand Hill Global's Event Center) to host one precinct for the statewide primary election on May 12, 2026 (no county cost recorded). The Board of Equalization later convened and approved motor vehicle tax exemption applications for multiple nonprofit and religious applicants.
Most items passed by roll call with unanimous yes votes where recorded; Chair Yokum recorded an abstention on the minutes item. Several items were routine and approved without extended discussion.
