Morgan County Commission approves full-time grants administrator and three hires

The Morgan County Commission voted on July 1 to make grants administrator Felicia Darlington a full‑time employee and to approve two other new hires.

Misty, who introduced the personnel recommendation, said the commission should move Felicia from part‑time to full‑time because “She has been an asset to the county helping in all the grants.” Commissioners approved the change to a 35‑hour workweek at an annual salary of $27,300 with benefits, effective July 6, 2026.

The commission also authorized hiring Hailey Bright as a part‑time kennel technician at $15 per hour, effective July 2, 2026, and approved hiring Lexi Zirkle as a full‑time custodian at a yearly salary of $31,200 with benefits, retroactive to June 29, 2026. The hiring motions were approved by voice vote.

Commissioners praised Darlington’s grant research and outreach, saying her work and “Rolodex” helped the county pursue funding opportunities. The personnel decisions were presented as routine administrative items during the meeting and carried without further condition.

The commission did not specify additional budget offsets beyond noting the positions were included in the current budget; the salary and effective dates recorded in the meeting minutes were approved as stated.
