The Spring Grove City Council on May 20 unanimously approved the city's annual audit after an auditor said there were no material concerns and urged the council to map out capital needs for the next decade. Layne Kockelman of auditing firm ABDO appeared by Zoom, presented the audit findings and answered questions from council members.
Kockelman told the council the audit revealed no issues requiring corrective action but recommended the city prepare a 10-year capital plan to identify long-term equipment and infrastructure needs. "We had no concerns," the auditor reported, and suggested a capital-needs projection to help the council prioritize funding.
Council Member Trent Turner moved to accept the audit; Council Member Michael Hagen seconded. The motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
The council did not set a schedule for producing the capital plan but the recommendation sets a planning objective for future budget discussions and potential grant applications.
