City pushes CEDA for in‑town presence, schedules stakeholder meeting on priorities

At the March 18 meeting Mayor Bryan Wilhelmson said he wanted the CEDA position to be based in Spring Grove four days a week and to report progress to City Administrator Jana Elton. Elton led the discussion with Laura Qualley, CEDA Manager, about revising the CEDA contract and shifting accountability to local priorities. According to the council record, Qualley “agreed she will work towards filling this position.”
Council members said they want CEDA/EDA to prioritize specific anchor projects and to provide measurable progress. Council Member Trent Turner proposed and the council scheduled a stakeholder meeting — including representatives from CEDA/EDA, Spring Grove Forward, the Chamber, the school and the Daycare Task Force — for April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fest Building to determine focused priorities and next steps.
