Council approves hires, leases, facility use and financial write-offs in consent items

The Spring Grove City Council handled a series of consent and routine agenda items at its Dec. 17 meeting.
Council approved hiring firefighters Joshua Mattson, Ethan Atkinson and Garrett Wiese. The council renewed the 2025 ballfield lease agreement with Spring Grove Public Schools with no changes to the contract. Council also approved allowing walkers and pickleball players to use the Fest Building Jan. 2–March 31 during specified daytime hours and certain evenings; Molly Wiste will serve as the evening point of contact and be responsible for opening and closing the building. The council approved Resolution 24-58 granting licenses and renewals.
Financial actions included approving a write-off for parcel 260078000 for unpaid utilities of $1,481.61 and a second write-off for parcel 260572000 for $203.90 related to windscreen replacement at the tennis courts. The council also approved allowing all city employees (including library staff) to attend AED/CPR/First Aid certification classes at a cost of $80 per employee and noted that one zoning permit had been issued.
