Windsor Locks housing authority reports vacancies, pending evictions and maintenance backlog

Darlene West, director of housing for the Windsor Locks Housing Authority, told commissioners on Jan. 6 that the authority currently has four vacancies at Southwest, one vacancy at Chestnut and seven vacancies at Oak Grove. There are pending transfers and applications at all properties, she said.
West also reported two evictions pending at Oak Grove and one pending at Chestnut. She said the Southwest waitlist is open while the Chestnut and Oak Grove waitlists remain closed. The director presented a work order report and a delinquency/outstanding report and described the time and expense involved in restoring some units after tenants move out.
West additionally noted that the authority recently added a new accounting staff member but that numbers reviewed after the meeting were incorrect and are being fixed. Commissioners discussed unit conditions and the remediation workload but did not take formal action at the meeting.
The authority did not provide a schedule for reopening closed waitlists, nor did the minutes record any new policy or funding decisions tied to maintenance or eviction resolution. The meeting record shows these operational items remain under staff review.
