Liaison reports police detail pay at $46.48; board urged to compile figures, consider revolving fund

Kim Blakeslee, the Select Board liaison to the police department, reported on Nov. 3 that she met with Jason Pelletier about officer detail pay and a possible revolving fund to manage third-party detail payments. Blakeslee said the town’s current detail rate is $46.48 and that recent detail work has included Whip City Fiber.
According to the liaison report, Pelletier said he was concerned about asking the town simultaneously for a revolving fund to collect third-party detail revenue and for a pay increase for officers. Blakeslee recommended compiling the detail-pay figures from recent years and presenting those numbers to the Finance Committee to support any request.
No formal motion to create a revolving fund or to change the detail-pay rate was recorded in the meeting minutes; the board directed staff to gather figures for potential presentation to the Finance Committee.
