The Charlemont Select Board voted unanimously on Nov. 3 to hold a Special Town Meeting on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. to dedicate the town’s tennis-court land to park and recreational purposes and to accept Parc grant funding to rehabilitate the courts. Jared Bellows moved to accept the draft warrant language with the condition that Town Counsel review and clear any edits; Wilder Sparks seconded the motion and the board voted in favor.
The warrant language presented at the Select Board meeting instructs the town to accept the Parc grant and to authorize spending for the tennis-court rehabilitation project if voters approve at the special meeting. Town Administrator Sarah Reynolds provided the draft wording and asked the board to allow her to submit the warrant after counsel completes its review.
The motion sets the procedural next step: finalizing warrant language with Town Counsel and publishing the warrant ahead of the Dec. 9 Special Town Meeting. If approved by voters at the special meeting, the town would be authorized to accept the grant and proceed with the rehab project under the terms in the warrant.
