Monroe County commissioners on July 2 approved several routine but consequential contracts and project actions, ranging from an IT upgrade for court recordings to the formal assignment of the convention center management agreement.
Technical Services presented a one‑year cloud‑based upgrade to the county’s FTR court‑recording system to address compatibility and to add permissions, real‑time redaction and cloud access; commissioners approved the $24,000 agreement from the cumulative capital fund. “This gives them permissions, gives them tighter controls ... it also gives them the ability to redact ... in real time,” Technical Services staff said.
Other approved items included a $10,000 KNS contract for disaster‑debris dumpsters serving tornado‑impacted sites, a digital‑scanning phase two contract with US Imaging to digitize recorder office books ($178,023.66), and a Lens Paving LLC award ($142,651) to repave the highway garage parking lot. The board also approved supplemental and right‑of‑way agreements advancing federally aided bridge projects (Bridge #79 and Dilman Road Bridge #83) and one final change order on the Vernal Pike connector for pedestrian safety improvements.
In a separate action, commissioners approved an assignment and assumption agreement transferring the convention center management contract and related rental revenues and deposits to the newly formed Capital Improvement Board; the convention center manager thanked the county for years of collaboration.
All of the listed contracts and assignments carried by voice vote. County staff noted that while contract approvals continue, longer‑term maintenance and storage costs (for cloud services and archived recordings) will require future budgeting decisions.
