On July 9 Union City Borough Council continued discussion on proposed amendments to local ordinances covering Skill Games of Chance, temporary/portable pools on adjoining vacant lots, and small removable sheds.
Minutes state the changes to Skill Games of Chance had been previously presented and approved; council reviewed additional proposed changes that would allow above‑ground pools on adjoining vacant lots and permit sheds up to 144 square feet if placed on a gravel base or skids and removable, with no side‑yard setbacks on adjoining property lines but retaining front yard setback requirements. Council asked Solicitor Tim Wachter to draft a suggested zoning amendment for council review.
Council also reviewed proposed parking ordinance changes for Municipal Lot #2, including removing front‑end parking and calculating space counts if angled parking were used; the Streets Supervisor was asked to provide final parking‑space calculations and the Solicitor will prepare a proposed amended ordinance for council’s final review.
No formal ordinance was adopted at the meeting; the solicitor will prepare language for subsequent consideration.
