Roads and utilities update: Brandon briefs supervisors on repairs, Rockwell work and speed‑zone checks

On fleet and equipment, Brandon reported that two county trucks (31 and 36) were briefly out of service but were repaired and returned to service before the meeting. He said one mower is experiencing overheating and crews will address cooling issues.
On development work, Brandon said contractors are on site at the Rockwell project installing sewer and water extensions but that soil‑remediation work has not yet begun. "We'll have the first part of that project completed in the near future," he said, adding that remediation work should follow.
Brandon said a paving project referenced as 'Rush' is unlikely to be completed this year and that paving schedules for other projects may begin after the July 4 weekend. He described one stretch discussed as roughly six miles.
A separate bridge project will likely be completed in the winterwork season, Brandon said, with pile driving and concrete work deferred until weather permits; he noted the project is expected to finish in the next fiscal year rather than this summer.
The presenter also flagged permitting uncertainty for an internal project and said he does not want to purchase materials before permits are secured. On traffic controls, Brandon reported inspections of pre‑warning signs and no‑passing zones across higher‑travel county roads and said the county's pre‑warning signs are set 700–1,000 feet ahead as required. "So, yeah, we should be in compliance with that pretty quick" after July 1, he said.
The board thanked Brandon after his report; there were no formal votes tied to the update.
