Council approves consent agenda, resolutions and equipment purchases; tables hockey rink boards pending information

At its Jan. 6 meeting the Deephaven City Council approved the consent agenda and several routine administrative resolutions.
The consent agenda motion (moved by Councilmember Tony Jewett and seconded by Councilmember Emily Scherschligt) included approval of the Dec. 2, 2024 workshop and regular meeting minutes, verified claims, 2025 city and employee health insurance contributions, purchase of a Freightliner plow truck, approval of 2025 tree removal company quotes, and authorization to sell an F-350 Public Works truck. The motion passed on a recorded vote.
In new business the Council approved Resolution 01-25 (establishing the date for the 2025 Local Board of Appeal & Equalization public hearing), Resolution 02-25 (adopting the 2025 meeting calendar with a corrected July date), Resolution 03-25 (2025 council appointments and assignments), and Resolution 04-25 (2025 administrative fee schedule). Motions carrying these resolutions were recorded with Councilmember Tony Jewett absent for the votes; each motion carried 4-0.
The Council discussed options for replacement hockey rink boards at Village Hall Park; City Administrator Dan Madsen recapped workshop options and Councilmember John Studer said he would research concrete pad pricing for under-ice support. The item was tabled pending further information.
The meeting adjourned at about 8:40 p.m. after a motion by Councilmember John Studer, seconded by Councilmember Emily Scherschligt; the adjournment vote was recorded 4-0 (Jewett had left earlier).
