CPRC reports three closed‑session items, approves minutes and an excused absence

City Attorney Barry Schultz told the National City Community and Police Relations Commission on May 15 that the commission had heard three items in closed session and that each received support by unanimous vote.
“This evening in closed session, the commissioners heard 3 items. All 3 items received a vote of support, by unanimous vote of the commissioners in attendance,” Schultz reported.
In public business, the commission approved the minutes from its Feb. 20, 2024 regular meeting. Commissioner Gomez moved to approve the minutes and Commissioner Phillips seconded; the clerk announced that the motion carried.
The commission also approved an excused absence for Commissioner Cummings for the Feb. 20 meeting after the clerk reported receipt of a doctor’s note. Commissioner Gomez moved to approve the excused absence; Commissioner Rosales seconded and the clerk recorded the motion as carried by unanimous vote.
A final motion adjourning the meeting until Aug. 21, 2025, at 6 p.m. was made and carried by unanimous vote.
The city attorney’s report did not disclose the substance of the closed‑session items in public session.
