Bardstown council awards $113-per-ton street-resurfacing contract, approves donations and appointments

The council also approved a water and sewer service request from Buzick Construction for Maywood Subdivision Phase XIII after a motion by Councilwoman Betty Hart and a second from Councilman David Dones; that motion carried 6-0. The meeting record shows both procurement-related votes were unanimous.
The council accepted two recommendations from the Bardstown Historical Review Board presented by City Attorney Audrey Haydon-Blackmon. The HRB recommended approval to remove a tree at 118 W. Broadway (COA-25-23) on condition that a replacement tree be planted; the council approved that recommendation 6-0. The HRB also recommended approval for a rear addition and new garage at 206 E. Stephen Foster (COA-25-25) with the condition that the applicant obtain proper permits and Planning & Zoning signatures. Councilman Joe Buckman recused himself for the COA-25-25 vote; the measure passed 5-0 with Buckman recused and he returned to the dais afterward.
The council approved donation requests of $5,000 to Nelcasa and $5,000 to the Stephen Foster Drama Association; both donations were approved 6-0. By unanimous consent the council also approved cemetery deeds for Jennifer Conner, Carman McMurray and Samuel & Tambra Gerage.
Appointments approved by vote included Jewel Brock to the Joint Board of Ethics for a three-year term through Oct. 14, 2028, and Mike Boone to the Cemetery Committee for a three-year term through Oct. 14, 2028; both motions carried 6-0.
The meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m. after a motion by Councilman Joe Buckman and a second by Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV that passed 6-0.
