Committee approves exploration of international student trip; policy committee to review travel rules

Kevin Lundstrom described preliminary vendor conversations and the school‑sponsored model: “we’ve been speaking with EF tours… it would be run through EF tours… our side with it being a school approved trip would be that we are able to advertise to students in our school,” he said.
Administrators and committee members asked the policy committee to review rules that govern international travel, including whether a nurse is required (licensing/credential issues were cited) and what protections or insurance the district should require. Committee members also discussed prior challenges with domestic trips during COVID and asked whether tour companies’ cancellation/insurance policies have improved.
Outcome and next steps: Committee gave informal approval to allow staff to survey and explore options and formally assigned the policy committee to review and, if needed, revise school travel policy before any trip comes back for an approval vote. No formal trip was approved at this meeting.
