Oktibbeha County orders mandatory timber-hauling reroute to protect newly treated Crawford Road

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors on May 28 issued an order prohibiting commercial log-hauling traffic from entering Crawford Road from Rice Road during the active Moore High/Crawford Road reclamation and chip-seal curing cycle.
County Engineer Clyde Pritchard told the board an unpermitted timber-cutting operation had established a haul point roughly one mile up Rice Road and planned to route fully loaded log trucks onto Crawford Road and south to Highway 45. Pritchard warned such heavy truck traffic would “completely tear up and destroy the new road” and that delaying or splitting the contractor's chip-seal deployment would incur steep mobilization fees. The Board unanimously directed District foremen and the Road Department to contact the loggers, deny access to the fresh alignment, and mandate rerouting via Quick-Krippling and Skinner Road into Lowndes County.
The board later memorialized the action in a written order authorizing enforcement of the reroute during the active paving and curing cycle.
