The committee reviewed parking and towing progress for the town beach and assigned several operational follow-ups, including sign replacement, outreach and short-term parking control measures.
Members reported Muddy River Signs will cut two new signs (6-by-16, black with white lettering) to cover old tow-company signage and expected the signs to be ready midweek next week; the committee discussed billing handled through the town manager, rec department or public works. A member said they will pick up the signs when ready and the group planned a Facebook post and paper flyers to alert residents to sticker and towing changes.
To help with immediate parking congestion the committee agreed to temporary painted lines and volunteered to provide spray paint for the marking; public works and the recreation department have striping tools and the plan is to lay down temporary markings to educate drivers and adjust after rain storms. Members also removed two no-parking signs during a prior work detail and identified one stubborn sign that will require additional effort to remove.
On accessibility and staffing, a committee member asked for a second handicap parking sign at the beach; public works was identified as the unit to provide the sign and a volunteer offered to measure and install. The committee discussed a seasonal wash-station concept (running from a pole for temporary power) and agreed to contact Naples to learn how they implemented theirs.
Beach operations items included drafting a short daily task list for beach attendants and clarifying supervision: the committee noted Donna will serve as park director and oversee attendants while the town rewrites job descriptions. Members also confirmed a new CEO (Rick) starts Monday and agreed to invite both the CEO and Donna to a future meeting for introductions and coordination.
Follow-ups assigned on the record: upload drone photos to a shared drive for parking-lot review, check public works for spray-paint equipment, contact Pastor Fred about handicap sign placement, email Amanda about available seasonal funds for a temporary wash station, and schedule the next committee meeting for June 23 at 5:00 with town staff and code enforcement invited.
