Pownal hears Community Resilience Partnership presentation from North Star Planning

The Town of Pownal Select Board heard a presentation May 12 from North Star Planning on joining the Community Resilience Partnership, a statewide program intended to help small towns prioritize resilience projects and compete for grant funding. Sam Peikes and Lucy Perkins of North Star Planning walked attendees through the program and a set of six questions designed to surface local priorities and trade-offs.
Town Administrator Becky Taylor-Chase introduced the presentation and said the town will meet jointly with neighbouring Durham as part of the next steps; the combined group will then prepare an application for their first Partnership grant. Attendees provided feedback during the workshop portion to help prioritize ideas for Pownal’s plan.
The Select Board recessed briefly and reconvened at 7:32 p.m. North Star Planning materials and the presentation were made available on the town’s website and via the meeting recording. The board did not take a formal vote on participation at this meeting; the presentation and the public feedback will inform the town’s next discussions and grant application process.
