The Select Board voted unanimously April 28 to set the Property Valuation Factor for Tax Year 2026 at 30 percent. Becky Taylor-Chase reported that the town is 10 years past the revaluation cycle; in lieu of a full revaluation this year, the Tax Assessor's agent recommended using a 30% factoring rate to help calculate the mill rate and tax liabilities for 2026.
On a motion and second the board approved the 30% factor; all board members voted in favor. The action is an interim fiscal step to produce tax estimates and does not constitute a revaluation. The board did not discuss the timing or scope of a future revaluation beyond noting the town is overdue and that staff are monitoring options.
