During Old Business on June 9 the Select Board revisited earlier work on impact fees and a memo from IOV Community Planning about exploring a tax increment financing (TIF) district near the Central Maine Power property off Allen Road. Selectperson Andy O'Brien raised the matter and said the Capital Assets Committee had asked to discuss impact fees with the Select Board.
Chair Jon Morris said the information and the declared valuation from utilities prompted outreach to other municipalities and that he may propose joining neighboring towns to hire an industrial assessment for utilities valuation. The Town Administrator, Rebecca Taylor‑Chase, recommended a workshop with North Star Planning and relevant committees; she said the town already has the contract and, pending town meeting approval of the budget, the Select Board could approve it so work could begin July 1.
Board members agreed a workshop with just the Select Board first would be useful to provide direction before involving committees. No final contract vote was recorded at the meeting; the board discussed next steps for scheduling and for presenting budget language at town meeting.
