River Ridge CDD hears lake maintenance update and stormwater reports after Tropical Storm Debbie

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the River Ridge Community Development District on Aug. 27 that "the lakes appear to be in very good shape," that crews removed fallen trees from the Florida Power & Light ditch and outfall structure ahead of an approaching tropical storm, and that repairs to the Lake H1‑B nano‑bubbler will be completed the next day. Premier also increased service frequency from quarterly to monthly for the rainy season and will present electrical proposals for relocating a compressor in Masters Lake with Operations Manager Shane Willis.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reported on the community’s response to Tropical Storm Debbie, saying parts of the community received "almost 8" of rain in two or three days" while roads are designed for "5½" of rain over a 24‑hour period. He said the stormwater system reached capacity but "flowed unobstructed" and suggested adding a drainage connection to E1‑A so water could bypass pipes and inlets and go directly into the lake.
A resident reported standing water coming up through a slab and linked it to mold in her unit; Mr. Krebs said he does not believe the standing water was the cause because no similar reports came from neighboring units. The engineer asked that Mr. Long be asked to comment at the next meeting and staff will follow up.
Operations Manager Shane Willis said he will review past minutes regarding a downed tree at Catch Basin #134, and requested that resident Anita Bachragh provide photographs so staff can assess the conservation area and take action if required. Mr. Willis also said Mr. Long is scheduling a training event for staff related to the speed sign project and will provide an update at the next meeting.
The board recorded that Lee County Utilities handles some water‑line repairs and that certain actions such as allowing fire trucks to draw water from district lakes would require approval from the South Florida Water Management District and could harm lake plants and fish.
The board directed staff to investigate the resident complaints and include related items on the next meeting agenda.
