City says turnpike mitigation easement secured; construction timing depends on ODOT

City Engineer Matthew Glass told the North Royalton Storm Water Committee on Sept. 2, 2025 that the city obtained an easement from the Turnpike and forwarded plans to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and that the project must now wait for ODOT to schedule it.
"We acquired the easement from the Turnpike with the help of the Law Department. That along with the plans have been sent along to ODOT," Glass said. When Chair Heidi Webber noted that the city was then "at their mercy," Glass said he expects the work to be scheduled for spring or summer 2026.
No construction contract, dates, or bid schedule were discussed at the meeting; staff said they are awaiting ODOT's scheduling decision before next steps can be finalized.
