Warmm cited an Olympic boxing match and a 2022 high-school volleyball injury as examples she said illustrated differences she believes the board should consider when evaluating locker-room, shower and athletic-participation policies.
"There are differences and sometimes those differences are not theoretical until something bad happens," Warmm said, and she asked the board to "keep it in mind" when those policy questions arise. Her comments prompted board members during round-table remarks to emphasize student safety and welcome a continued focus on the district27s plans to support students and staff. Several board members also used their remarks to congratulate award recipients, thank staff preparing for the school year and honor retiring administrators.
The board did not take immediate action on the topic; public comment was recorded and the board moved to closed executive session on personnel after routine business concluded.
